I just read a very interesting article about this theme in the guardian, one of my favourite on-line journalism sources, and decided to share it. It doesn't answer these questions, it wouldn't be as simple as that, but it collects letters from some sexual workers and clients with different points of view. I'm wish this issue could be talked/written about in public media without restraint or submission to the typical prejudices. We need eye-openers here and now, to stop believing all the workers are forced into it or desperate addicts. If your curiosity is piqued, follow this link. The one thing that makes the article feel thoroughly incomplete is that all the stories are from female workers and male clients, which contributes to the stereotypical idea of this business, but it is explained because the material belongs to the author's projects Letters from Johns and Letters from Working Girls, comments collected by Susannah Breslin from 2008 to 2009 and probably worth a look too.
